Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026. Purrytale (“we”) is the data controller for purrytale.com.

1. What we collect

  • Account: your email address, and a login session token.
  • Content: the text you submit or the prompt for an AI story, and the generated story text and audio file.
  • Billing: a record of purchases and refunds (amount, date, and a payment reference). Card details are handled by Stripe — we never see or store them.
  • Technical: standard server logs needed to run and secure the service.

2. Why, and the legal basis

To provide the Service and your account (performance of a contract); to take payment and handle refunds (contract / legal obligation); to keep the service secure and meet our legal and accounting obligations (legitimate interests / legal obligation).

3. How long we keep it

Generated audio and story files are deleted after 7 days. Your account and email are kept until you delete your account. When you delete your account we erase your personal data and anonymise your orders and purchase records; anonymised financial records may be retained for accounting/tax purposes. Payment records held by Stripe are subject to Stripe’s own retention.

4. Who we share it with (processors)

Soniox (text-to-speech), Google (AI story generation via Gemini, and Google Analytics — see below), Stripe (payments), Resend (login emails), and Hetzner (hosting, EU). We do not sell your data.

5. Cookies & analytics

We use only what’s needed to run the site (a login session cookie once you sign in). We also use Google Analytics to see which pages are popular. By default it runs in a privacy-preserving, cookieless mode — no cookies or identifiers are stored on your device. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept our cookie prompt; the legal basis for those cookies is your consent. You can change or withdraw your choice anytime via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

6. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA (or a similar regime) you can access, correct, export, or erase your data, and object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account and erase your data yourself from your delete account page.

7. International transfers

Some processors may process data outside the EEA under appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

8. Children

Purrytale is used by adults to make stories for children; accounts are for adults. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
