A bedtime story you can take with you

Save the MP3 once. Play a favorite again on a quiet evening, a long journey, or a night without Wi-Fi. Free stories and the stories you create both come as ordinary audio files.

From story page to offline listening

1

Save your story

On a free story page, choose Download MP3 below the player. For a story you create, use the MP3 download on your completed order page.

2

Open the downloaded file

Find the MP3 in your device’s downloads and open it in an audio app that plays local files. The website itself needs a connection; the saved file does not.

3

Make it part of your evening

Choose the volume and try the file before settling in. Your audio app controls playback, so check its repeat or queue settings if you want one story and then quiet.

Keep the whole story in a .purrytale story file

On a completed order, choose Save story file to download one .purrytale file containing the audio, full text and story details. Save it before the original download expires.

Later, open it in the story reader to listen and read along in Purrytale again — as often as you like, which makes it a handy way to practise reading a favorite. The file opens on your device without uploading your story or signing in. It does not restore the server copy or need generation credits. Keep the file somewhere you can find it; closing the page does not save it for you.

Add a Purrytale story to a Yoto card

Have a Yoto player and a Make Your Own card? Start by downloading your Purrytale MP3. In Yoto’s app or website, create a playlist, upload the file, give it a title, then link the playlist to your card.

Follow Yoto’s official guide to adding MP3 files for the current steps and player download instructions. You upload the saved file yourself; Purrytale does not connect to your Yoto account.

Save personalized stories while they are available

Your completed order shows when the download expires. Save the MP3 and the story text before then; the copies on your device remain yours to keep. Your account’s order history is a record of the stories you made, not a permanent backup of the files.

Reading settings, word highlighting and sentence replay belong to Purrytale’s free story pages. The MP3 carries the narration only; your chosen audio app provides its own controls.

Questions about downloading stories

Can I download a free story without an account?

Yes. Open a free story and choose Download MP3. Creating a new personalized story requires an account and credits; downloading from the free library does not.

Does changing the playback speed change the download?

No. The MP3 keeps its original narration speed. A speed you choose on a story page applies only to playback in that browser.

Do I need a Yoto player?

No. You can listen on a phone, tablet, computer or another device that plays MP3 files. A Yoto player and Make Your Own card are one optional way to listen.

Can I use the website offline?

Download the MP3 before going offline and open it in a local audio player. Purrytale’s website and online reading controls need an internet connection.
